まずはフレームに合うように合板で背板を作ることから始めます。厚紙で型板を作りそれに合わせて合板をカットします。

上の写真は既に合板をフレームサイズに合わせて切り抜き、仮留めした状態です。

この背板にシャドーピンクのペイントを塗装すれば背板は完成なのですが、フレームの様なシャビーシックな雰囲気になるようにひと手間加えてエイジングを施します。

一口に「エイジング」と言っても色んなタイプの汚れ方、割れ方、かすれ具合があります。アンティークショップや町の塗装屋さんで提供されている加工は、下地に濃い色目、次に上から明るい色を塗装して、紙やすりで擦って下地を見せ、最後にワックスなどを塗って汚れ感を出す。といった方法が最も安易で一般的です。

今回のフレームはピンクのペイントを塗る前にギルディング（金箔）が施された代物ですので、下地の色がダークゴールドです。同じように金箔を貼る事もできますが、そこまで忠実な再現は必要ないので経年劣化した塗装の再現にこだわり、クラッキングという技法を用いたエイジング加工を施します。

Normally, cracks would not occur if the wood and the coating itself did not expand and contract repeatedly over a long period of time, but this cracking technique exploits the "cracking phenomenon" that occurs when coatings with different shrinkage rates are applied between the base coat and top coat, forcing the wood to age. In recent years, this technique has also become famous as a simple antique-style processing technique that is easy to apply to mass-produced products.

My main job is usually to polish antique furniture until it is beautiful and shiny, but when I handle the shabby texture of this item, it reminds me of some basic knowledge that I had almost forgotten.

After undergoing this aging process, the damage on the back panel has been adjusted to match the scratches and fading on the frame.

It blends in so well that you can't even tell at first glance, or even if you look closely.

The result is a feminine and cute adult look.
This time, we carefully considered with the customer what kind of fabric would look best with this frame, and then chose the fabric.

The moderate satin sheen and mint green trim accentuate the pretty frame.
