This time we will introduce the repair of a quaint old oak table.
It is a fine table that looks well-used, but unlike the typical "dining table," its size is 1500 x 700, a little small and just the right size for the couple. It seems that they had to search many furniture stores to find a table of this size that they liked.

First, the basics of furniture repainting. The surface coating is removed by stripping. The final finish is a Uzukuri finish.
This is an oil finish that does not create a film.
When you touch the wood with the Uzukuri finish (a finish in which the soft parts of the surface are polished away to highlight the grain and clarify the shadows), you can feel the bumps on your fingers tracing the grain of the wood.
When you ask for furniture to be repainted, the previous coating is removed and the surface is scraped off by sanding. This also removes the unevenness that was previously prominent on the surface. This kills the texture that was so precious.
This time, we will take the extra step of smoothing the surface in order to preserve its original texture.
First, the usual stripping and sanding is carried out, and then the surface is thoroughly brushed with a horsehair brush.
Continue brushing over and over again, taking your time.
The clear and strong grain of the wood brings out an unprecedented firmness and expression.
Hidden scars and blow marks began to surface, as if remembering the history that had passed.
